Here’s my life in bullet points:
- I was relinquished at birth, spent time in foster care, and was adopted.
- I’ve been married to Luke for 20 years.
- We have 3 kids—1 adopted, 2 bio.
- We live in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula (though I fiercely love Detroit, where I am from).
- I’ve written 15 books.
this is my why
I never set out to create an adoption site or build a platform—I’m happy writing words and wrangling kids. But then I started reading so much misinformation about foster care and adoption, and I started hearing from so many discouraged members of this community. And I can’t just sit back and do nothing.
So I am here to tell the truth—about foster care, adoption, trauma, healing, identity, freedom, and joy—as honestly as I can. And I’m glad you’re here.
